For the third time in a week, Israeli warplanes flew over Lebanon, mainly to demonstrate that they could do so with impunity. There has been increasing violence on the Lebanese border, but Israel has not yet resumed air attacks on targets in Lebanon. Inside Israel, large scale violence between Palestinians and the army has declined, but there are more individual attacks on Israeli settlers. Opinion polls indicate that Palestinians feel continued violence will get them a better peace agreement with Israel, while Israeli public opinion is moving in the opposite direction. While the Palestinian struggle still gets a lot of attention in other Moslem countries, "compassion fatigue" is setting in and outright war between Israel and it's Moslem neighbors is becoming less likely.
