In northeastern Ecuador, near the Colombian border, the army discovered three FARC camps. The rebels had recently fled the camps, apparently when they realized the troops were approaching. The camps contained much medical equipment, and was apparently a site for providing medical aid for FARC gunmen wounded across the border in southern Colombia. There, the Colombian army has been fighting FARC for several months.
