The war on corruption continues. In the last five years, 83,308 officials have been convicted of corruption. Currently, more than 4,000 officials are on the run, after having taken more than $600 million. Many of these crooks have fled abroad, using false passports. Nevertheless, the public still sees corruption as a major problem with the government. And the corruption in the military has not been attacked nearly as vigorously as that in the civilian sector.
