Meanwhile, Croatia's former ruling nationalist party called on all ethnic Serb refugees who fled the country during the 1990s war to return and promised a normalization of ties with Serbia. Around 280,000 Serbs fled the country during the war, most to neighboring Serbia and Montenegro or to Serb-dominated parts of Bosnia.
