February 14, 2006: The government has signed a series of agreements with the U.S., to cover cooperation in scientific and counter-terrorism activities.

February 9, 2006: The air force is getting MiG-29SMT Russian fighters, with the possibility of 30 more.

February 1 7, 2006: Another GSPC leader, Abu al Baraa, was killed by troops in a clash 260 kilometers east of the capital. Baraa was one of the 19 original founders of the GSPC, and one of main defenders of the terrorists against the increasing number of Islamic scholars in Algeria who are condemning terrorism.
