Fighting between Uzbek and Tajik warlords in the north left at least seven dead. Tanks and rocket launchers were used. The warlord militias are fighting over who will control drug smuggling routes into Tajikistan. The drug gangs pay the strongest warlord in the area a fee to move their drug shipments through on their way to markets in Europe and North America.
