New Zealand has increased military pay by up to 12% (focused on lower ranks) to increase recruiting and retention. The increased cost will be paid by an increase in the defense budget. The frigate Canterbury was scheduled to complete its refit this month, but will have to stay in the dockyard for three extra months to replace the steam piping system.
