There are some problems that show up in combat that make you wonder what goes on during "realistic combat training." Case in point was the Iraqi operations that caused widespread complaints from infantrymen about the new MOLLE backpack/load bearing gear does not allowing enough hand grenades, or 40mm rounds for the M203 grenade launcher, to be carried. The troops found that they really needed to carry about 24 40mm rounds, and the issued ammo vests didn't allow for that many. Same thing with hand grenades, where there was only provision for carrying two. Why did it take a real war for these deficiencies to be discovered?
