Terrorism: October 20, 2003

Pakistan is under increasing pressure to give up some noted terrorists suspects that were recently named by the US government as major players in terrorist organizations. But Pakistan refuses to let any terror suspect connected with the war in Kashmir be turned over to the US. The American government recently named Pakistani based Dawood Ibrahim as a "global terrorist." But he is also wanted by India for activities in support of terrorism in Kashmir and India. Many Pakistanis consider anyone supporting the Kashmir fighting as a patriotic hero. In the same way, al Qaeda has sought to protect some of its people by attaching themselves to supporting terror operations against Israel. This causes many Moslems to support the individuals involved, even those these men are mainly interested in attacking American (and non Moslem) targets.
