A recent poll of college students produced a strong core of results favorable to the war on terrorism, and a single result (that 79 percent do not think US culture is superior to Arab culture) which got all of the headlines. In point of fact, 62.6 percent said that the US is the best country in the world, leading analysts to suspect that the 79 percent result was students trying to parrot the party line of their professors without really grasping what it meant. Other results show a strong pro-US stance: 62.9 percent said the war in Afghanistan was moral, 72.2 percent said it was justified. Some 58.4 percent supported a missile defense system. A solid majority (66.8percent) said that the US had the right to invade Iraq while 78.4 percent agreed that the US had the right to remove Saddam Hussein from power. And a massive 83.2 percent agreed that there was "good and evil" and "right and wrong" and rejected the view that all sides of any dispute are morally equal.--Stephen V Cole
