@ All federal agencies were asked to present a list of increased spending caused by or in response to the terrorist attacks (extra security and so forth). The final total was $150 billion, but this number apparently includes everything that every agency ever wanted to spend (whether it had anything to do with the war on terrorism or not).
@ The Red Cross is now running background checks on volunteers to "weed
out nut cases".
@ Every federal agency in Washington DC has been keeping a handful of key managers in the Cold War nuclear bunkers just in case of a catastrophic terrorist attack on the capital, and these agencies have been told that the practice will be continued indefinitely.--Stephen V Cole
