: Are you surprised? Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni said his "Movement" party (formerly the National Resistance Movement) won nearly 80 percent of the votes in local elections held January 11. Heres the unofficial breakdown of the vote, as provided by the government: Movement candidates got 82.3 percent of the seats in central Uganda; 89.3 percent in western Uganda; 74.8 percent in eastern Uganda; 84.1 percent in north Uganda.
