Islamic rebels used two bombs to stop a train in the south, then fired on the policemen who were passengers on the armored train, which was used to patrol the area. About twenty policemen and civilians were wounded in the attack. The spate of recent terror attacks have been instigated by Moslem preachers who call for infidels (mainly Buddhists) living in the south to be killed, or driven out, so that the three mainly Moslem southern provinces can become an Islamic state. The number of Thai Moslems attracted to this sort of thing is small, but large enough to cause at least one violent incident a week.
