In the south, another teacher was killed, apparently by Islamic extremists. The teacher was driving home, with another teacher, when two men rode by on a scooter and opened fire. The second teacher survived, and said that the shooters were dressed in clothing favored by students of a nearby Islamic religious schools. Throughout the Islamic world, religious schools have been the source of religious hatred and calls to commit terrorist acts against non-Moslems, or Moslems who disagree with Islamic conservatives. In Thailand, the Islamic extremists are trying to drive out the non-Moslem minority (less than 20 percent of the population in southern provinces). Terror and murder are being used more and more.
