Thailand: Over My Dead Body

Archives

April 24, 2013: In the south Islamic terrorists opposed to peace talks (between southern separatist groups and the government) have made their displeasure known with posters and banners placed overnight in many villages, along with more violence. The majority of Moslems in the south are apparently opposed to more violence, and the groups negotiating with the government are trying to negotiate an autonomy deal that will encourage more of the hard core Islamic radicals to stop their violence. Many Moslems in the south have already been persuaded to actively assist the security forces (as informants or armed village defense volunteers). If the active Islamic terrorists cannot reverse this trend they are doomed, and some are willing to go down fighting rather than give peace a chance. The peace talks are to resume in Malaysia on the 29th.

April 22, 2013: In the south a terrorist bomb exploded, killing four soldiers, after it was thought to have been disabled.

April 17, 2013: In the south a roadside bomb killed two soldiers.

April 12, 2013: Islamic terrorists attacked an army outpost at night with a machine-gun and assault rifles. No soldiers were injured and the attackers fled.

April 10, 2013: In a show of force, Islamic terrorists in the south carried out 35 attacks in 24 hours. Most of the attacks could also be described as vandalism but one used a roadside bomb to kill two soldiers.
