Heeding demands that militias be disarmed, the government has collected 3,000 weapons from civilians in Darfur. But most of these weapons were taken from non-Arab tribes. These are the people being attacked by pro-government militias, but they are also the groups supporting the rebels in the area. The government says it has removed it's air force transports from Darfur. These aircraft had been used to bomb civilians in the area.
