The diplomatic front in Sudan continues to be active. SPLA leader John Garang tossed out a new idea. Garang would like to see Sudan adopt a "rotating presidency." The current Islamic government in Khartoum would have the presidency for a given time period, then the SPLA would assume presidential power for a given time period. Garang suggested that the current Moslem dominated government have the presidency for the next three years then "rotate power" to the SPLA. ire services report that Garang spoke at a public rally of SPLA supporters. He said that the SPLA decided to sign the initial peace agreement last week because the agreement treated the SPLA as an equal with the current Sudanese government.
