More ceasefire politics. The Sudan government is once again hedging on the ceasefire agreement. Or should that be agreements? The Khartoum government says that the ceasefire does not apply in eastern Sudan. Sudan says that it has been fighting Eritrean troops who back rebel forces in east Sudan, and that the ceasefire with the SPLA applies only in the south. The fighting in the east occurred October 17. Sudanese forces attacked Old Rissai, located near the Eritrean border.
