LTTE gunmen continue to fire on navy gunboats off the north coast. There have been about five such incidents in the last week.
April 2, 2006: In eastern Sril Lanka, the rebel faction of LTTE has allied with local Moslems, to try and get back Moslem homes and businesses seized by the LTTE.
March 30, 2006: A navy gunboat received LTTE fire from the shore off the north coast. The navy returned fire. No casualties were reported.
March 28, 2006: Responding to calls from the eastern Sri Lankan Moslem community for more protection, the army is recruiting Moslems from the area, for an all-Moslem infantry battalion. The unit would be used to protect the Moslem community, from LTTE attacks.
