rebels dead. 

 In the northeast, fighting left seven rebels and one soldier dead. The earlier attack on the nation's main airport are having serious economic effects. As a result of the airport attack, insurance rates have gone up on air port and merchant shipping operations. This has cut tourism and increased shipping cost. It appears that the economy will decline at least several percent this year. The growing unemployment has enabled the (largely leftist) opposition parties parties to put more pressure on the government. This, in turn, has made it more difficult to govern and caused more popular unrest.
