Pakistan has denied that it is sending weapons to Sri Lanka. However, India fears that Pakistan is sending aid, as a means of gaining a valuable ally at the tip of southern India. The LTTE continues to attack towards Jaffna city, but the tempo of fighting has apparently decreased. This could simply mean that the LTTE is getting ready for a final assault on the city. The LTTE is, as usual, outnumbered. Although the army has over 40,000 troops in the Jaffna area, the LTTE have less than 10,000. But LTTE morale is much higher and the rebel troops are better training, more motivated and possess superior battlefield leadership. In Jaffna city, police shot and killed a dozen LTTE commandoes who tried to get into the main administrative building.
