A captured suicide bomber proved quite willing to talk and gave details on how the LTTE suicide program (the Black Tigers) is run. The LTTE conducts research to see what types of bombs work best. In one case, a live dog and goat were strapped into the front seat of a car, and then exposed to a bomb blast in the car to see if the bomb had enough force to kill. The bombers themselves undergo months of training and dry runs before they are turned lose with a live bomb. It is feared that as many as six bombers are currently in the capital, waiting for an opportunity to kill high profile targets like senior politicians or military commanders. Today, a senior member of the government official narrowly escaped injury when two grenades were tossed from a car. Meanwhile, in the north, police commandoes killed three LTTE rebels.
