  A time bomb exploded on a bus, injuring at least twenty people. The LTTE was suspected. In the north, 22 LTTE rebels and two policemen were killed in continued fighting. A soldier and three policemen were wounded. The United States has agreed to sell Sri Lanka military equipment, including helicopters and mortar locating radar. The latter would be a very important development, as the LTTE favors the use of mortars for hit and run attacks. With the US radars, the location of the LTTE mortars can be fixed quickly enough to be destroyed by artillery or mortar fire.
