The UN has suspended food shipments to Somalia, because of the ship, carrying food, that was hijacked, on June 27, by Somali pirates off the coast of northern Somalia. The ship was carrying 850 tons of rice. The pirates are holding the crew (a Sri Lankan captain, a Tanzanian engineer and eight Kenyan sailors) for  ransom (several hundred thousand dollars is being asked).
