While there may be no American Special Forces troops in Somalia, there is an American presence, either in the form of CIA agents or Somalis hired and trained to keep an eye on local Islamic radicals. It's feared that the Islamic groups are supporting al Qaeda operations. The Islamic radicals are making their presence felt by threatening violence to those to act in an "unislamic way." Drinking alcohol or allowing women to go out without "modest dress" has led to physical attacks by groups of Islamic radicals.
