The UN is asking for the UN peacekeeping force to be increased from 6,000 to 10,000. There is fear that 6,000 troops will not be able to handle the situation if a large number of rebels resisted the peace accord. This is further complicated by the withdrawal of Nigerian troops, who have been there for years and will take their experience with them.
