Rwandas President Paul Kagame was re-elected president in the first vote held since the 1994 genocide. Kagame took 95 percent of the vote. Kagame is a Tutsi. Opposition leader Faustin Twagiramungu (a Hutu moderate) claimed fraud and said he would contest the election. Interestingly enough, 96 percent of eligible voters voted and that looks like a good figure. Kagame ran on a national unity platform. There were numerous accusation of government intimidation of the opposition.
