FDD rebels killed three people in a series of attacks in east and central Burundi. One attack occurred in the town of Mutumba, where a local government administrator was abducted and killed. In Muyinga province, a larger FDD attack occurred on a refugee camp. The guerrillas burned a medical dispensary. One report said 2,000 people fled a refugee camp fled the attack on the camp. The FDD is clearly seeking to sow as much fear and discord as possible in an attempt to either undermine the peace process or leverage maximum concessions from the new Burundian government before entering into negotiations. At the moment it looks like the former undermine the new government and portray moderate Hutus as collaborators.
