Despite the January 10 meeting between the Burundian government and the FDD, an Ethiopian official serving with the Implementation monitoring Committee (IMC - which oversees the Arusha peace agreement) said that the agreement's time table was "no longer applicable" since no ceasefire agreement had been reached. He said all sides need to explore ways to reach a peace agreement even as fighting continues. The IMC will try to develop a new peace timetable in the next month.
