Eight Ethiopian pilots, in Belarus for technical training, have applied for political asylum. This puts Belarus in a difficult position, as it makes a lot of money selling military equipment and services to countries like Ethiopia. The pilots are most likely economic refugees, trying to get out of poverty stricken Ethiopia to find better employment opportunities.
