The United States and Russia are cooperating in the war on terror, and that appears to be manifesting itself in the same, or similar, bomb detection technology showing up in Chechnya and Iraq. Russia reports that is it using devices that prematurely set off remote detonators on roadside bombs. This is similar to equipment already being used in Iraq. Russian intelligence work in Chechnya has been getting better as well, but this has more to do with more Chechen factions basically giving up and agreeing to support the pro-Russian Chechens running Chechnya. This is a slow motion collapse of the anti-Russian movement. The Russians have recently caught several rebel bomb makers, and over ten percent of the rebels appear to be foreigners. The call for all Moslems to join the worldwide jihad against infidels (non-Moslems) is having some effect. The U.S. and Russia have also been comparing notes about interrogations of prisoners, and finding more about Islamic terror organizations in Europe and the Middle East.
