In Chechnya, two soldiers and four rebels died in a battle in eastern Chechnya. Other army operations uncovered five rebel arms caches containing ammo and 344 pounds of explosives.

The Russian province bordering North Korea is asking the federal government for aid in dealing with massive numbers of refugees in the event that there is a government collapse in North Korea. The provincial government fears that the federal government will do nothing in the even of a flood of North Korean refugees, leaving the province (with a population of only 2.1 million) to cope by itself, or beg for international help.
