In southern Russia, two conscript soldiers killed six other soldiers and fled their base. Three hours later, they were captured by heavily armed troops sent after them. They face 25 years in prison. Desertion is common in the Russian army, and it is not uncommon for the deserters to kill officers or NCOs before fleeing. There are also a lot of suicides.
