Russian President Putin has removed the Russian space program and missile defense system from the control of the Strategic Rocket Forces. These will apparently be grouped into a new Space Forces command. The Russian military has complained that since the fall of the USSR the Russian military space program has eroded, denying its forces access to satellite reconnaissance and making even satellite communications unreliable.--Stephen V Cole
