Chechen rebels reported they had ambushed two Russian convoys south of Grozny. There was no conformation from the Russians, or anyone else. In the southern city of Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) a remote controlled bomb killed three soldiers and injured twelve. No one claimed credit for the attack, but it is feared that it was the work of Chechen rebels. In Chechenya, two senior local officials ran over a remote controlled mine, killing one and injuring the other.
