The courts are finally doing something about all the suspected terrorists that have been arrested since late 2001. At least 36 have been released recently after formally renouncing terrorism. Another 17 were indicted this week on terrorism charges and will be tried. Last month, on November 21, police arrested six al Qaeda members, who reportedly provided information about al Qaeda leaders in Yemen. A week earlier, on November 17, the British embassy was closed "indefinitely" to the public because of reported plans for al Qaeda attacks on British embassy personnel. Meanwhile, U.S. military aircraft were reported to be patrolling over northern Yemen, assisting in searches for al Qaeda members and sympathizers. British SAS commandos are said to be on the ground, searching the two northern provinces for al Qaeda bases.
