Accusations continue in the aftermath of the CAR coup. After the Chadian government reported that CAR troops massacred 80 Chadians outside of Bangui in reprisal for the coup, the CAR government issued a statement denying the allegation. CAR Prime Minister Martin Ziguele pointed out that his mother is Chadian (implying allegations of ethnic motivation for the deaths were false). The Chadian government said that the CAR was conducting mass arrests of Chadians in the CAR. The CAR has accused Chad of backing the rebellion. A subsequent report said that CAR forces based in Bria had driven a rebel column back to the Chadian border.
