  In central Nigeria, fighting between Fulani and  Tiv tribal militias continue to battle each other, leaving over a hundred dead in two weeks of fighting. The government has been unable to get sufficient troops or police to the area to stop the violence. Most of the government's mobile reserves are tied up in the Niger delta oil fields. There, tribe based oil stealing gangs have armed themselves and presented the military with a major challenge. The inland tribes are poor, and are often armed mainly with spears and bows.
