Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, leader of one of the largest oil stealing gangs in the delta region, threatened to attack oil facilities on October 1st, if the army and police did not stop attacking his gang. Dokubo-Asari belongs to the Ijaw tribe, the largest in the delta area. Dokubo-Asari's gang has been a major target of army and police attacks because it is the largest gang in the area. Dokubo-Asari calls his gang the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force.
