In the delta area, more troops have arrived to try and stop armed activists from Ijaw,  Itsekiri and Urhobo tribes from fighting each other. The Ijaw have done most of the attacking over the last two weeks, leaving over a hundred dead (including at least ten soldiers and sailors) and several thousand refugees. The violence has also shut down about a third of Nigeria's two million barrel a day oil production. Electricity production has also been cut in half because of the violence and looting. The people in the delta area are angry over years of oil production and no economic benefit for them. Moreover, building and running the oil facilities has disrupted their traditional way of life (farming, hunting and fishing.) Earlier governments were corrupt and brutally put down any protests.
