The violence in the capital has killed up to 90 people in the last week. Many Hausas are fleeing, even though the violence has decreased. All this makes the politicians, as the Hausas are the largest ethnic group in the country, and come from the Moslem north. The Moslems have long dominated politics in the country.. 

November 29; Outside observers were allowed into the Niger delta town of Odi, where troops and armed rebels clashed ten days ago. Some 300 soldiers came in after a dozen policemen were killed. The two is now nearly deserted and most buildings are destroyed. Residents say that dozens were killed and that the troops deliberately destroyed the town. 

November 27; Police are searching for the leader of the OPC, the hard line Yoruba organization responsible for starting the Hausa-Yoruba violence that is causing bad feelings between the two largest ethnic groups in the country.

November 26; Ethnic violence continued in the capital, as Yoruba and Hausa factions mobilized their forces for what may be even larger clashes. The police have been ordered to shoot on sight anyone engaging in ethnic violence..
