The government is building stronger economic ties with China, in order to obtain weapons and ammunition. Indian leftist politicians have used their key position in the coalition government ruling India now, to provide support for Indian and Nepalese Maoists. Thus ammo shipments for Nepal have been held up, although other military equipment, like protective vests, have been delivered. India considers Nepal within its area of influence, if only because the ruling class of Nepal is Hindu, and often related to families in India. This Chinese move is not well accepted in India.
