Rebel have attacked 14 airports in the last year. It has cost $3.46 million to make repairs. During the Winter, these airports are often the only way to get to some of the many mountain valleys in Nepal. Nine of these airports are back in action, with another five nearly so.

The rebels say they are willing to start peace talks, and to halt attacks on infrastructure (roads, power plants, airports, communications) targets.
