 The government has contacted the Maoist rebels to discuss a peace deal. The rebels are not enthusiastic about this. The government is also ready to approve a proposal to allow four million Indian migrants living near the Indian border to become Nepalese citizens. The former king refused to approve this measure, and many nationalists fear Indian migrants eventually taking over the country.
