The two rebel attacks earlier this week was apparently costly. As the army searches the area, they are finding buried and unburied rebel dead. So far they have found the bodies of 251 rebels around Sandhikharka, 215 kilometers southwest of the capital. In this battle, 66 policemen and soldiers died. The attack in Bhimad (85 kilometers east of the capital) left only nine rebels dead. The army is searching for the bases from which the rebels staged and launched their attacks. Without the bases, it is difficult for the rebels to train and arm new troops, or mass fighters for large attacks.

The government has decided against restoring the state of emergency.
