A senior rebel leader on trial for the killing of 12 policemen was released. This was done as a good will gesture to the rebels and the continuation of peace talks. There are also 120 civilians and policemen still being held by rebels, despite the earlier release of some captives. Peace talks are stalled and the government threatens to resume military operations if the next round of talks fail.
