LURD rebels have taken the town of Gbah, 40 kilometers northwest of the capital and a astride key route to Sierra Leone. The artillery fire could be heard on the outskirts of the capital. LURD control of captured towns is generally brief, with the rebels disappearing when too many government troops show up.
