China now believes that North Korea has obtained sufficient nuclear material to assemble several nuclear weapons. The North Koreans admit this. China is not happy with this and is threatening North Korea with economic sanctions if the nuclear weapons program is not dropped. North Korea responded by changing it's demand of one-on-one talks with the US and agreeing to multiparty talks with China, America, South Korea, Japan and North Korea. But the basic problem, the collapse of the North Korean economy and the ruling Communist Party wanting foreign nations to provide money to keep them in power, remains.
