North Korea threatened to halt all cooperation projects if there was any economic or political retaliation for revelation of the $200 million bribe paid to North Korea in order to get northern leader Kim Jong Il to attend the summit meeting in the south in 2000. That meeting led to a peace accord signing in June 15, 2000. All this led to South Korean leader Kim Dae Jung winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Kim Dae Jung leaved office on February 25th, although some politicians are demanding he resign immediately because of the bribery scandal and lying about it.
