The US revealed that earlier in the month, US diplomats went to North Korea and confronted officials with intelligence data indicating that North Korea was continuing to work on developing nuclear weapons. The North Koreans admitted it, and belligerently insisted that the US had violated the 1994 agreement whereby North Korea promised to stop developing nuclear weapons in return for free oil and nuclear power plants to provide North Korea with needed electricity. The North Koreans have gotten the oil, but have not been cooperating in the construction of the nuclear plants.
